NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - On Saturday, March 25, Sarah Bontomase, Josh Grochowski and Nicky Lionetti of Faith Lutheran Church in New Providence participated in a First Communion Retreat.  The fifth graders studied and discussed the meaning and importance of communion in their Christian faith.  This was to prepare the children to receive communion for the first time during the liturgical service at Faith Lutheran on Holy Thursday, April 13.

The children also baked bread with holy crosses they made in the dough.  The bread will be part of the communion served at the Holy Thursday service.

The retreat was conducted by Rev. Dr. Murdoch MacPherson, Rev. Jane McCready, Carol MacPherson and Kim Lionetti.
