BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - Berkeley Heights Downtown Beautification Bright Nights project was presented a check for $1,400 from First Energy Foundation. Carol Bianchi of Jersey Central Power & Light presented the check to Mayor Angie Devanney and Councilwoman Jeanne Kingsley.

First Energy Foundation provides grants supporting and promoting economic development. In addition to economic development, they strongly support diversity, inclusion and sustainability.

The First Energy Foundation donation will help to brighten downtown by contributing towards the hanging of market string lights along the light posts that line Springfield Avenue to give a festive ambiance to downtown and "brighten" the atmosphere --  in the hopes of attracting shoppers and diners to support downtown businesses.

The Berkeley Heights Downtown Beautification Committee in partnership with the Winter Walk Committee and support from the BHB&C have asked the downtown business district to "help create bright nights in Berkeley Heights" by decorating their storefronts. They recommend decorating with warm white, non-blinking lights, in windows and/or storefronts; large red bows to wrap their windows; and place greens or Birchwood in planters.
