BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - Gabriele Fitness and Performance hosted a Fat Blast "Knock Out Cancer" Class for Nick Markovitch, a 10 year old scholar athlete from Bridgewater who was recently diagnosed with cancer. Over 50 participants came out to support Nick on Saturday.

Nick's mom Amy grew up in Berkeley Heights and remains close with the community. Her brother Mauro Iarussi, Berkeley Heights Fire Department President, and his wife Linda were overwhelmed by the community's generosity at this event with donations reaching close to $6,000.

Vince Gabriele was quick to offer his help when his popular transformation client Cathy Balsamo told him of her friend Amy's son being diagnosed with cancer. As Gabriele has done for others in the community, he offered his gym and quickly rearranged the schedule for a community Fat Blast class with all proceeds going to help Nick and his family.

When Gabriele and Balsamo set the date, all the GFP trainers were on board for Nick. Matt Gallitelli set up a Facebook page and designed posters and had them hung across town. Sal Liberato, owner of 908 Enterprises Social Media Marketing, donated his time to design the tshirts that were donated by Tee Bag of Berkeley Heights and Gabriele Fitness & Performance.

Balsamo, always a big advocate for giving back, could not be happier with the turn out and support from the community and Gabriele Fitness for opening their gym. "It has been a wild ride for them, and thank you for opening your gym to us," she said.
