The Berkeley Heights Recreation Department invites you to participate in a Special Olympics New Jersey "Get Into Our Game" Track & Field Program Created for special needs school-age children and young adults (8 years of age and up)

When: Sundays 11:00am-12:00pm; March 21 - May 16, 2010

Where: Governor Livingston High School Track, Berkeley Heights NJ

No practice on Easter Sunday, April 4

Awards ceremony and party will be held on Sunday, May 23

Get Into Our Game, created by Special Olympics New Jersey, is a new school and community based sports skill-training program that offers individuals with disabilities the opportunity to participate in sports. The goal of the program is to provide participants of all ability levels the chance to learn key sports skills and participate in athletic competition. Athletes will learn these skills: Sprinting (50M, 100M, 200M, and 400M dashes), Relay Races, Race Walking, Softball Throw, Standing Long Jump and Running Long Jump.

The program is open to developmentally disabled children and young adults 8 years old and up. Athletes will be grouped according to age and ability once the program begins.
