GL Girls Cross Country Team Honored for State Sectional Win by Berkeley Heights Board of Education

BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - Members of the Girls Cross Country Team of Governor Livingston High School were honored by the Board of Education for their accomplishments during the year, in particular winning the State Sectionals for the first time.

Team Members include Keren Amkraut, Angela Bonetti, Valerie Diamond, Evelyn Doskoch, Mackenzie Lloyd, Caroline Mondelli, Rachel Mustacchi, Katelynn Quinn, Victoria Vanriele, and Pascal Yousse

Members of the team who were able to attend the board meeting were called up to the front of the room and, as a group, presented with a Resolution by the board. The resolution reads:

BERKELEY HEIGHTS BOARD OF EDUCATION  RESOLUTION  

WHEREAS, the Girls Cross Country Team of Governor Livingston High School located in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey consists of athletes Keren Amkraut, Angela Bonetti, Valerie Diamond, Evelyn Doskoch, Mackenzie Lloyd, Caroline Mondelli, Rachel Mustacchi, Katelynn Quinn, Victoria Vanriele, and Pascal Youssef; and

WHEREAS, the team is coached by Head Coach Christopher Coughlin and Assistant Coaches Lisa Dhaibar and Peter Festante; and  

WHEREAS, the Girls Cross Country Team became the Cross Country Sectional Champions; and, the team had a historical season, including the County Championship. The sophomores of this varsity team took a notable 2nd out of 26 teams at the prestigious Cherokee Challenge and won their division at the Thompson Park Class Meet. The highlight of the season was winning the State Sectionals for the first time ever, allowing the team to advance to the Group Championships for the 2nd year in a row; and  

WHEREAS, the team saw each of its members contribute individually to their championship season, sophomore Victoria Vanriele set the course record and took home the top finish for the second year in a row, setting the course ablaze with an 18:26 at the Warinanco Park course; and  

WHEREAS, the Berkeley Heights Public Schools community is very proud of the accomplishments of this team and its coaches;    

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Berkeley Heights Board of Education members applaud the 2017-2018 Girls Cross Country Team and congratulate the student-athletes on an outstanding season; and  

BE IT RESOLVED that a signed and sealed copy of this resolution be framed and kept on display at Governor Livingston High School.
