BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - Instead of spending Saturday thinking about their disappointing, 40-18, loss to Roselle Park the day before, the Highlanders went out and swept a quad that featured  Middlesex, Union and JP Stevens High School at home.

The Highlanders started the day by defeating Middlesex 48-27 winning 11 of the 14 matches, seven with pins: Nick Mele (113 pounds, 4:53), Quinn Haddad (138 pounds, 4:37), Turner Haddad (145 pounds, :36), Nick DeLuca (152 pounds, 2:52), Mike Rhodes (160 pounds, 5:24), Sam Burke (170 pounds, :39),  and Sean Tomlinson (285 pounds, 3:40).

The Highlanders then downed Union 45-19 and ended the day with a convincing 56-24 team win over J.P. Stevens, dropping five matches with many wrestling up in weight.

Richard Ortega, in his second year as head coach for Gov. Livingston, was pleased with his squad. "We had a good day, everybody wrestled well," said Ortega. "The younger guys that I put in did what they were supposed to do - it was overall a good day, we have to keep it up."

"We saw a lot of our younger guys get some experience," said Ortega. "I just want them to get better every time they get out on the mat." He is looking for the newer wrestlers to try something new and to correct their mistakes from previous matches.
