PITMAN, NJ – Junior co-captain Ryan Zucker of the Rutgers University-Newark baseball team was named the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Player of the Week.
Zucker led Rutgers-Newark to a split against nationally-ranked Roanoke College in the Scarlet Raiders' first two games of the 2018 season.
The Mountainside native went 5-for-9 in the two games as R-N won the opener 8-6 and dropped the nightcap, 9-1.

In the opener, Zucker went 3-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, a walk and an RBI, and in the second contest he went 2-for-4 with a run scored and was also hit by a pitch.
For the weekend, Zucker hit .556 with seven total bases, getting on base at a .636 clip. He slugged .778 to finish with an OPS of 1.404 out of the leadoff spot, and played left field for the first time in his collegiate career.
