"The girls played very well," Gov. Livingston head coach Andy Silvagni said. "We have had issues starting but we started really hot--Dilly and Patrice made some shots early in the game, so we are happy with that. We are just excited to get into a normal routine next week, with no snow, just practice and games."

The Highlanders held the lead the entire game, coming out in the first quarter strong and ending it 19-8. While Linden worked to aggressively rally back, critical rebounds by Lauryn DiStaso, Jenny Pires, and Patrice DiTommaso gave Gov. Livingston an offensive momentum that put them in the lead 34-19, at half.

For a period of time in the third quarter, the Tigers imposed their most eminent threat on the Highlanders. They cut the lead to nine.

NaQuasia Robinson of Linden helped propel their team in close reach of the Highlanders during the third quarter, scoring seven points (and all of Linden's ten points in the second half). She was supported by Zaria Butler, who scored eight points in the game.

In that third quarter, Coach Silvagni sent in some fresh substitutions which provided a spark, including Hayley Berliner, who made two layups under pressure, and had a key assist in the lane to Courtney Osieja.

The Highlanders scored seven unanswered points, and kept a secure lead for the rest of the game. The score was 42-26 going into the third quarter.

Gov. Livingston went ahead by even more in the fourth quarter, and the game ended 54-29.

Both teams had strong inside shooting, good inside looks for layups, and had multiple steals that kept the possession in constant transition.

Senior Captain DiTommaso reflected on the game, "We played really well as a team and everyone stepped up and made plays today. Overall it was a great win for us as a team."
