ROSELLE, NJ - The Gov. Livingston boys' ice hockey team improved its record to 2-0-1 with a 4-2 victory over Scotch Plains-Fanwood on Tuesday at Warinanco Park in Roselle.
The Highlanders got on the board with 5:01 left in the first period to go up 1-0, with a goal by sophomore Robert Monroy, a lead they never relinquished during the game. Freshman Ryan Monroy scored ending the first period.
After taking a 2-0 lead into the second period, the Raiders answered to make it a one-goal game with 3:30 left in the second period. The Highlanders came right back -- less than five seconds later to go back on top 3-1 with a goal by freshman Billy Alexander.
Junior Thomas Sousa widened the lead with a goal to start the third frame. The Raiders would score with 8:39 left in the third, but it wasn't enough to catch the Highlanders' lead.
Matt Altomare recorded 28 saves in the victory.
Gov. Livingston will be back on the ice on Saturday, Dec. 13 against Lenape Valley Regional at Skylands Ice World at 7:20 p.m.
