BASKING RIDGE, NJ- Yogi Berra died Tuesday night at age 90.
Yogi had a career that transcended baseball. He was a Hall of Famer, all-time Yankees legend, three-time Most Valuable Player originator or the Yogi-ism and international legend.
Yogi is the only player in baseball to have won 10 World Championships with one team. He and Don Larsen were the only Yankee player to have been witness to two perfect games; one as a player and one as a spectator during Yogi Berra Day.
I will be long remembered for his sayings like:
- "No-one goes there anymore, its to crowded.
- "It’s like deja-vu all over again.
- "It ain’t over till it’s over.
- "You should always go to other people's funerals, otherwise, they won't come to yours."
A statement released by the Berra Museum in Little Falls, NJ about the Yankee Great,
“His passing has created a void that cannot be filled, even by the myriad anecdotes -- some accurate, others exaggerated -- about him and the dozens of records he established.”
