BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - One thing is certain, the 73 participants of the Highlander Basketball Camp love to play basketball. The camp was held at Gov. Livingston High School July 24 through July 28.

Fact is, Coach Chris Loeffer couldn't get these kids to put the balls down at the end of the camp -- which is what he wants.

"They love playing the games -- at the same time, we have to teach them skills because they are going to be our guys," said Coach Loeffer.

This high energy camp taught fundamentals and skills to these future Highlander basketball players through playing games, rotating through skill stations and competition.

At the end of the five day camp, a ceremony awarded players in the following categories: free throws, speed shooting, hot shots, team championships, one on one, defense, hustle and MVP.

Coach Loeffer, entering his third year as head basketball coach, was assisted by the GLHS basketball coaching staff and his varsity players.

The Highlander varsity team hasn't taken time off this summer, playing in a 12 game league where they advanced to the championship game. They will also participate in a six game two day camp in the coming weeks.
