The Junior League of Summit has been honored as a recipient of the SAGE Eldercare Good Neighbor Award. Angela Sullivan, Executive Director of SAGE Eldercare presented the award this past fall.
Receiving the award on behalf of the League, President Michelle DeMuth (Summit) noted, “We are truly honored to be recognized by SAGE Eldercare. SAGE is an amazing resource to our community and we have been privileged to have the opportunity to work with them over the years. We are truly grateful to be recognized with this prestigious award.”
Over the course of the entities’ partnership, the Junior League of Summit has donated more than $33,000 to SAGE Eldercare and countless hours of community volunteer hours. Most recently, the League donated pounds of fruit for centerpieces at SAGE’s fundraising gala, which were thereafter donated to help feed community members through Bridges and Loaves & Fishes.
The Good Neighbor Award was initiated by SAGE Eldercare in 1996 to honor local organizations that generously share their resources in support of SAGE Eldercare and older adults in the community.
As noted by Sullivan, “The Junior League has been a driving force behind community initiatives and organizations that make our community great. The Junior League’s support of SAGE goes back at least 50 years when the organization gave a startup donation of $10,000 to begin SAGE’s Meals on Wheels program. In 2015, they awarded SAGE a grant to help with the program’s mission to work towards eliminating hunger in the older adult community. We thank the Junior League for recognizing the need for this program and for partnering with us in this effort.”
