Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation (www.kessler-rehab.com), in conjunction with Caldwell College, will host a free Wheelchair Basketball Event on Tuesday, March 27, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the college’s Newman Gym, located at 120 Bloomfield Avenue, Caldwell. This event is open to the public and is geared to individuals with spinal cord injury or other physical disabilities who are interested in observing or participating in wheelchair sports.
Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with wheelchair basketball players, watch demonstrations and trial adaptive sports equipment. Door prizes and light refreshments will be provided.
“This is a great opportunity for people of all ability levels to learn about the world of adaptive sports. Basketball and other wheelchair sports can play an important role in people’s recovery, helping them regain the mental and physical strength to resume the activities they enjoy. It’s also a great way to maintain fitness and meet others with common challenges and interests,” said Mary Mamrak, MHA, CTRS, Director of Recreation Therapy, Kessler Institute, West Orange.
