League of Women Voters present Brigid Callahan Harrison Ph.D

NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - The League of Women Voters of Berkeley Heights, New Providence and Summit will be hosting Brigid Callahan Harrison, Ph.D, at our Tuesday, May 3rd meeting.

The title of her talk is: Democracy in Action: A Deep Dive into Elections.

Dr. Harrison will center her remarks on the ongoing presidential campaigns, explaining the rise of Trumpism, the draw of Sanders among Millennials, and what we can look forward to if there is a brokered Republican convention. She will also integrate into her remarks Gov. Christie's support of Trump and what that has meant for him politically (nationally and in state) and what it could portend for his future. The wrap up will include a look ahead to the 2017 gubernatorial elections in the state.

Brigid Callahan Harrison is Professor of Political Science and Law at Montclair State University, where she has taught since 1994. Named to PolitickerNJ's Power List 2015 (at #20), Harrison is a frequent commentator in print and electronic media on U.S. politics. She also is a regular commentator on NJTV. She is a columnist for The New York Observer, PolitickerNJ, and The Bergen Record, and her editorials have appeared in The New York Times, USA Today, The Star-Ledger, and The Press of Atlantic City.

We are pleased to open this free speaker meeting up to the public. Light refreshments will be provided.

We will meet at the De Corso Community Center 15 East 4th Street in New Providence at 7:30pm. Come earlier and partake in light refreshments.
