NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - On Ash Wednesday, March 1, Faith Lutheran Church in New Providence will begin the Lenten Season, a period of repentance and renewal, with three Eucharistic services. A Spoken Eucharist, with the optional Imposition of Ashes, will occur at 6:45 am and again at 12:15 pm. Each of the two liturgies is about thirty minutes in length. A fully sung Eucharist, with the optional imposition of Ashes, will be held at 7:30 pm.
During each subsequent Wednesday in Lent, Faith will conduct a spoken Eucharistic service at 6:45 am and at 12:15 pm, as well as an Evening Prayer and Eucharistic Service at 7:30 pm. The theme of the services will be “Where Charity and Love Prevail.”
On Sunday, March 26, the services at 8:30 am and 11 am will include a special liturgy, led by the Sanctuary Choir and instrumentalists,
Faith Lutheran conducts an open communion table. All visitors, who are baptized members of the Christian Church, are welcome to the Lord’s Table.
Beginning on Monday, March 6, and continuing each Monday through April 3, Rev. Dr. Murdoch MacPherson will conduct a Lenten Evening Bible Study, which will provide an unusual look at God’s gifts. The class will examine how persons see or don’t see the gifts and the influence that persons’ perceptions have on their faiths and lives. Refreshments will be served.
