“This is the third year of the scholarship” explains Ty Monk, founder of Monk’s Home Improvements. “Over the past two years we have been able to award 10 very deserving students with college scholarships. The scholarship recipients have helped their community in a variety of inspiring ways.”

Monk adds, “The idea behind the Monk’s Service Scholarship is to give something back to the people who have given their time and energy to bettering their community.”

Last year’s Monk’s Service Scholarship awarded graduates of Governor Livingston High School, Union County Academy for Information Technology, Chatham High School, Watchung Hills Regional High School and Scotch Plains Fanwood High School.

These five outstanding individuals include EMT volunteers, a volunteer at the Chelsea Nursing Home in Warren, a TryCAN volunteer mentor, and American Cancer Society volunteers, among other community endeavors.

The application process is entirely online and consists of a few basic questions along with an essay question. For more information or to apply online, please visit
