BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - Mayor Bob Woodruff has provided the following update on the Berkeley Heights Public Library:

  • The Library Board has voted to hire a contractor for work to be performed at 110 Roosevelt Avenue – The Rectory

  • ADA compliance requires the following:

    • new bathroom

    • parking spaces on level with a building entrance

    • widening of door openings

  • In addition, there are other general improvements that include:

    • improved lighting in public areas

    • wide interior windows

    • openings for circulation

  • To date, the following have been accomplished:

    • dismantling, moving and re-assembling shelves

    • re-wiring for public and staff computers

    • installation of new telephone system

  • After construction, there will be an installation of a fire alarm system

  • 30-day anticipated construction time
