MANASQUAN, NJ - Gov. Livingston boys soccer team won their first game of the 2014 Central Jersey, Group 2 NJSIAA championship playoffs Monday afternoon.  The #13 seed Highlanders came from behind to upset #4 seed Manasquan, 2-1 on away turf.

"It was the best game we had all season -- very physical with six yellow cards in total," said senior captain Chris Marzo. "It came down to who wanted it more."

Manasquan took the early lead midway through the first half. Senior Austin Irving scored the tying goal early in the second half.

Sophomore Thomas Abusada came out of nowhere, keeping the ball in bounds, said Marzo. Abusada brought the play back to the defenders who sent the ball towards the goal with sophomore Kian Monaghan positioned to finish for the win.

"It was crazy, it was insane to be the hero," said Monaghan.

The Highlanders advance to play 5th seed Arthur L. Johnson in Clark on Wednesday, Nov. 5 at 4 p.m.
