NEW JERSEY – The mild temperatures we have seen over the past two days will give way tonight into Wednesday morning, with much colder air and low pressure spreading through the area. With it will come a change from the rain we have seen since Monday, to some periodic snow showers Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, probably ending during the morning commute. With the road surfaces having been warmed over the past couple of days, it is unlikely to see accumulations on roads, however slippery, icy conditions may exist during the periods of snow.
On higher grassy surfaces, you might see a slushy accumulation of anywhere from a light slushy dusting, to perhaps as much as 2 inches. In the far northwest sections of the state, expect to see 1 to 3 inches on the untreated surfaces. The next week brings low expectations for poor winter weather, then everyone starts to watch the long-range forecasts to see what the chances of a White Christmas might be. HINT: Not likely.
