MOUNTAINSIDE, NJ - The Mountainside Rotary Club keeping with their long standing tradition as they presented awards to four deserving Mountainside students.

Rotarian Constance Aloupis presented two Deerfield students with the Elmer and Emily Hoffarth Service Award, named after one of the founding members of the Mountainside Rotary and his wife. This year’s recipients are Katherine Zimmerman and Samuel Bakaletz. Each student received a certificate and a $200 check.

Gov. Livingston High School graduated seniors Jensen Butler and Ryan Vargo each received the annual Mountainside Rotary Scholarship in the amount of $1,000. Presented by Mountainside Rotary President Rose Marie Sinisi.

Vargo along with his mother attended a recent Rotary lunch to thank the club. During the gathering, the Rotarians appreciated the visit and learned more about the recipient and his plans to attend Lehigh University to become a mechanical engineer.

"The Mountainside Rotary is proud to support deserving students for they will be tomorrow’s leaders," said a Rotarian representative.

The Rotary Club of Mountainside invites new members and guests to join them for lunch from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. at the Grillestone on Route 22 East in Scotch Plains the first Monday of each month and at Famous Dave’s Restaurant in Mountainside on Rt. 22 East every other Mondays (except legal holidays).
