The undefeated New Providence 11U Gold team completed a perfect season by defeating the also previously undefeated Elmora Troopers 4 - 3 in the finals of the 2017 NPGL baseball season. The Pioneers knew coming into the game, they had to play the perfect game, and they did just that.

After a top of the first run by Elmora, the Pioneers struck back with 4 runs in the bottom of the first with RBI's by Vincent Bisaccia, Andrew Kowantz, and a steal of home by Sean Reilly.  That was all the runs New Providence would need as strong pitching and defense enabled the Pioneers tp bring home the win.

Playing to their home park, Robby Roth pitched 4 strong innings, keeping his fastball high for long fly balls that the Pioneer outfield flagged down or low breaking balls that the Troopers beat into the ground for ground outs.  Jake Monaco continued the trend earning the save.  The game ended on a 6-6-3 double play and the Pioneers brought home the Championship trophy.

By far, this was the best team that this Pioneer team has ever faced in their 4 years together. These boys know how to pull together, support each other, and make the improbable a reality. Expect more from these boys as they move through the Pioneer PAL program and eventually to NPHS.
