The GL Varsity Wrestling team was 10-1 going into the Union County Tournament and finished a strong 4th in the team standings last week with 8 place winners with top spots going to:

1st Place: Mike Stepien (130) and Frank Colder (189)

2nd Place: Joey Hoy (135)

3rd Place: Patrick Eichner (145)

Additionally Coach Iacono was presented with the Coach of the Year award and Frank Colder, a Senior, was named Highschool Top Performer - Week 4 highschoolsports.net.

This was Frank's first Union County Tournament championship when he earned a 5-0 victory over 2009- champion Frank Yuro of Roselle Park for the 189-pound crown. Colder was also a standout offensive lineman on the GL Varsity football team and made Second Team All-Union County this past fall.

Wrestling was not the only the team to watch this winter.

GL Varsity Fencing had a terrific showing at the District 3 Tournament.

Results were as follows:

Girls

Foil Squad -- 2nd Place

Epee Squad -- 3rd Place

Saber Squad -- 3rd Place

TEAM [Sweet-16] -- 2nd Place

Boys

Foil Squad -- 2nd Place

TEAM [Sweet-16] -- 4th Place

INDIVIDUALS:

Aileen Trella -- Womens Foil

Jillian Rosamilia -- Womens Saber

George Edinger -- Mens Foil

Both squads will be trying to make their mark at the State Tournaments in the upcoming weeks.

Chatham Borough Police Chief Crosson has Retired; Captain Gibbons is Acting Commander

CHATHAM, NJ - Phil Crosson Jr., who has been a member of the Chatham Borough Police Department since 1992, retired from his position as the police chief on Feb. 1.
