SUMMIT, NJ - The next 12-week session of LIVESTRONG at the YMCA, a program helps cancer survivors reclaim their total health, becoming healthier and happier individuals, begins February 16 at the Berkeley Heights YMCA, a branch of the Summit Area YMCA/
For Paul, a LIVESTRONG at the YMCA participant, completing the program helped him regain his health in order to get back to his passion; running. “Being a marathon runner, cancer really set me back. As a result of being a part of the program, I was able to regain my strength and endurance, and I was able to run the Summit Area YMCA’s Annual Mother’s Day 5K."
Additionally, survivors and their families are provided a supportive community where individuals impacted by cancer can connect. “Cancer treatment left me feeling tired and not myself.” said Francesca, LIVESTRONG at the YMCA participant, “Being with other cancer survivors in the program made it less daunting to return to exercise.
