BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - Peak Medical of Berkeley Heights participated in the Join The Voices Against Brain Cancer Run/Walk 2013 in Central Park on Sunday, Nov. 17 to honor the president of Peak Medical, Dr. Michael Carbone, who was recently diagnosed.
"Team Miracle Mike" raised $31,000 for the cause. The 119-person team, the largest team of the day, was made up of co-workers, family and friends. "It truly was an amazing day and an inspiration to all who participated," said teammate and Office Manager Annette Quandt.
"Mike is always up for a challenge," Lauren DiMarco said. DiMarco organized Team Miracle Mike in honor of her lifelong friend, Dr. Carbone. "If it were someone else, Mike would be here running for them."
There were more than 5,000 runners and walkers who participated in the 5K run, wearing team shirts and waving banners in support of the Voices Against Brain Cancer (VABC) and of their friends and family members who have been affected by brain tumors, uniting people of diverse backgrounds towards a common goal.
"Voices Against Brain Cancer has a mission to find a cure for brain cancer by advancing scientific research, increasing awareness within the medical community and supporting patients, their families and caregivers afflicted with this devastating disease," states the Voices Against Brain Cancer website.
