Performance Enhancement and Injury Prevention Seminar for the Female Athlete, March 2nd

On Wednesday, March 2nd  at 8 PM  Parents, Coaches and Female athletes will have the opportunity to learn ways to prepare the Female Athlete to perform at the highest level possible while at the same time minimizing their risk for injury. Gabriele Fitness and Performance is offering this free clinic which will feature renowned Orthopaedist, Dr. John Hurley M.D., and owner, Vince Gabriele, M.S,

An estimated 150,000 Americans suffer ACL injuries each year in the United States and female athletes are 6 times more likely than are male athletes to experience them.  ACL injuries are mostly non contact, unexpected injuries, usually upon landing from a normal jump or while making a routine cut.  They require in depth surgery and can potentially steal a young person’s ability to ever play sports again.  Fortunately, this injury can be protected against.

Dr. Hurley, Board Certified in both Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine, practices in Morristown andhas specialized in sports injuries of the knee and shoulder for more than 20 years.  He has been aTeam Physician for The Detroit Lions and The Detroit Tigers, along with several Universities and High Schools.  He is listed in Castle Connolly's "America's Top Doctors" and New Jersey Monthly's "Top Doctors."

Vince Gabriele, Fitness and  Sports Performance Coach and owner of Gabriele Fitness and Performance in Berkeley Heights, has seen too many young women injured simply from not being prepared.  His vision is to change the way athletes train, creating successful programs that protect against injuries and not only accomplish goals, but surpass them.  With the increase in the number of young women who tear their ACL, it has become a mission to do something about it.

This clinic is specifically designed to teach young female athletes ACL injury prevention techniques, a cutting edge warm-up method and the type of training they should be performing during the season as well as in the Off-Season.  If you are a parent or coach of a young female athlete we hope you don’t miss this remarkable offer to learn more about training the Female Athlete.

Colleen Mahr Has Paid Her Dues, Earned Peoples’ Trust, and Left a Track Record of Success

February 20, 2018

Dear Editor:

As a 26-year-old Scotch Plains resident who cares more about the well-being of our town than about local politics, I am extremely disappointed that the Scotch Plains Democratic Committee leadership has decided to abandon Colleen Mahr in her run for Chair of the Union County Democratic Committee.

Mahr, who as Mayor of Fanwood for 15 years has worked closely with Scotch Plains ...

We Need More Women Like Colleen Mahr in Municipal, County and State Government

Dear Editor:

I’m proud to support Colleen Mahr for Chair of the Union County Democratic Committee  (UCDC) and am encouraging my Scotch Plains peers to join me.

I was a first time candidate wanting to make a difference in my hometown of Scotch Plains, when Mayor Mahr of neighboring Fanwood stepped in to help me campaign and win my election to be Councilwoman three years ago.

Democratic Party Would Be Making a Big Mistake by Not Recognizing Colleen Mahr's Talents

Dear Editor:

Mayor Colleen Mahr has been a valuable friend to the Township of Cranford. Whether it’s offering advice and assistance during devastating flood cleanup, supporting the Mayor's Council on the Rahway River, or her insight and assistance in meeting our affordable housing obligations, Mayor Mahr is always there for Cranford.

Colleen’s fairness and integrity is ...

Aesop’s “The Tortoise and the Hare” is a perfect metaphor for the way people go about investing their money. As you recall in the fable, the hare brags about his ability to beat the tortoise and is overly confident about winning. In the investment world, the hare is someone who thinks he or she is great at selecting “winners” and avoiding “losers.” The ...
