NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - Prestige Diner is set to begin a new Reading Rewards program. Through a partnership with the New Providence Memorial Library, age-appropriate books will fill the shelves of a special library at the diner. Kids are encouraged to pick a book to read while they're waiting for the meal. As a reward and based on the honor system, once they complete their book, they will earn a free kids meal at the diner.

"We are thrilled to participate in this program that brings the joys of reading and good books to kids in the community along with the great food at Prestige," said NPML new Library Director Lisa Florio. "We hope that this little taste of what the library has to offer will spur people to come in and take advantage of what's here including programming, reading recommendations, a wonderful collection and the AfterWords bookstore downstairs." She, along with Stacey Maisch, NP Children's Library Assistant, selected and donated books from the NPML's bookstore, Afterwords.

Prestige Diner loves kids as much as the kids love coming. The Reading Rewards program is another example as to what makes Prestige a great family place to dine. Reese Caruso, an incoming third grader at Allen W. Roberts School, made her frequent stop at the diner with her Grandpa on Tuesday. She was one of the first to select a summer read from this special library inside Prestige.

"Both Jimmy and I, as parents, value the significance of books to children’s development. In partnering with the borough’s library, we are simply seeking to encourage not only reading but, also spur more stimulating conversations around the dinner table," said Harry Vardas, co-owner of Prestige Diner. "As Dr Seuss said “the more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go."
