BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - The mayor and council of the Township of Berkeley Heights will hold hearings with respect to the transfer of property between the township and the Church of the Little Flower and the township and the redevelopment of the existing Municipal Complex. The dates and subject matter of each meeting are listed below. Scheduled discussion topics are subject to change.  Each meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the council chambers in Town Hall, 29 Park Ave., Berkeley Heights. Presentations will be made as required by the subject matter. Each meeting will include an opportunity for public comments and questions.

Sept. 15 - Overall introduction of the project in its entirety with specific attention given to the Memorandum of Understanding between Little Flower and the township, including a detailed analysis of the appraisals for all properties as well as the existing deed and other documents including, but not limited to, the scope and impact of the "Reverter Clause."

Sept. 22 - Recap of the Redevelopment Study prepared by Harbor Consultants, Inc.; discussion of needs study including a presentation of the deficiencies of the existing police department facilities, the administration building and the public works facilities and the analysis of the existing and future needs of each; review of the construction cost estimates.

Sept. 29 - Discussion and analysis of the Agreement between the Berkeley Heights Public Library and the Township; a presentation of the deficiencies of the existing library and an analysis of the existing and future needs of same; review of the construction cost estimates; discussion of the needs of the plans for the relocation of the library to temporary quarters during construction.

Oct. 6 - Presentation of the Redevelopment Plan; Projection of the potential impact of the Redevelopment Plan on the Township tax rate and a discussion of the impact of the PILOT (Payment in Lieu of Taxes); Presentation of the steps going forward including Qualifications and Request for Proposals - and the anticipated schedule for the entire Project. A concluding summary of the hearings will follow.

Oct. 20 - Tentative date in the event a fifth hearing date is necessary.
