Chirash spent his career at Colgate Palmolive where he was awarded 16 patents and was one of the key creators of Ajax Cleanser.

Bill's entire focus was always on his family caring for his wife, Doris, who suffered with Multiple Sclerosis and recently passed away on November 8, 2016 at the age of 86.

As a youngster, Bill joined the St. George Ukrainian Catholic Church choir and continued his devotion to God by being a member of the Our Lady of Peace choir in New Providence for many years. It was his love of music that attracted Bill to Doris DeMarie, hearing her sing at a Christmas party in 1951 at Colgate Palmolive where they both worked.

Doris was an accomplished singer who was accepted into Miniature Grand Opera Company of New York City where she was involved in choral singing of excerpts from operas and operettas. Once in high school she joined the school’s choir and was accepted into the Jersey City’s All-City Choir, then into the New Jersey All-State High School Chorus until her graduation in 1949.

After marrying and moving to New Providence to raise their three daughters, Doris joined the Our Lady of Peace Adult and Senior Choir and in 1964 became the church's Soloist, a position she would hold until 1988. She also became deeply involved in the formation and development of a children’s choir and later became the director of the children’s choir.

Bill is survived by his loving children Marianne (Armand) Galluccio, Linda Chirash, and Donna Chirash. He was the cherished grandfather of Bill, Jim, Alix, Dawn (Todd Bauer); and great-grandfather of Nathan and Ava. Bill was predeceased by his beloved wife Doris Chirash and his brother Steven Chirash.

Donations can be made in Bill's memory to the National Multiple Sclerosis SocietyVisit Paul Ippolito's Memorials for complete obituary.

What's Hot and What's Not

Summer is a great time to take a step back, sip a cool beverage, and take a look at what’s going on in the world of college admissions.  Departments use the summer to evaluate how their year went and plan on any changes they want to make for the fall.  Did they over-enroll? Under-enroll?  What application materials were useful to them?  Which were redundant or time ...
