BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - Sami’s Land and Sea Restaurant and Catering opened on Springfield Avenue in Berkeley Heights offering an innovative menu of New American Cuisine dishes – each prepared with a contemporary, creative twist – with a focus on freshness and quality.

Upping the ante to this 36-seat spot in Berkeley Heights, it retains all the qualities that made its predecessor great. Sami Eldiesyawe, owner and chef of Sami's Land and Sea, showcases a New American Cuisine menu -- featuring the use of fresh, high quality ingredients from specialty farms, wild fish, and hormone-free, grass-fed beef along with daily specials.

"The menu is something different than you will find with the competition in this area,” said Eldiesyawe. He prides himself and Sami's Land and Sea restaurant on his selection of steak and fish, while consistently providing a refreshing culinary experience.

This spot, formerly Giovanni's, required very little change. “I loved the atmosphere,” said Eldiesyawe. “Even the lavender coloring worked -- it is the color of the year. I don't see why I would change anything. I want the customers that used to come here to feel at home and come back.”

A highlight, that remains, is the ability to watch the Chefs prepare their recipes through the large glass window.

In the two weeks since opening, Eldiesyawe’s following has already given Sami’s two thumbs up. “I have my following and I will continue and add to it.”

Eldiesyawe left Ponte Vecchio in Murray Hill, where he was the chef for 10 years, to open his own restaurant. Prior to Ponte Vecchio, he was the chef at the five-star restaurant Christine's at the Somerset Hills Hotel in Warren and La Catena in Bridgewater.

Reservations for Sami’s Land and Sea are recommended on Friday and Saturday nights and is open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner.  Sami's will offer Sunday Brunch from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m [reservations required] and weekday Early Bird Special from 3:30 to 5.30 p.m.
