BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - Silver Liming Foundation joined forces with Little Flower Church to bring Thanksgiving feasts to local families this holiday season. The program was called “Adopt-A-Family for Thanksgiving.”

Silver Liming teamed up with 61 children preparing to receive the sacrament of Confirmation. The candidates need to serve others while putting their faith into action. Dan Grossano, Little Flower's Director of Youth and Family Ministry said, “I am happy to collaborate with Silver Liming Foundation while giving our candidates a positive experience of serving like Jesus and being mindful of those in need at this time."

The children split into virtual groups with one very real task: ‘Adopt a Family’ for Thanksgiving. The teens were invited to use recipes from their family, or to use the ones in the Silver Liming Thanksgiving Cookbook. They went to the grocery store and bought all the ingredients for the Thanksgiving feast. Yesterday afternoon, Silver Liming Foundation members delivered the meals to our special families. Governor Livingston's Student Movement Against Cancer (SMAC) club members designed the cover of the cookbook that was given to each family receiving the feast.

In the end, the two groups delivered all the fixings for a Thanksgiving feast to one dozen families.  Laurie Liming, founder of Silver Liming Foundation, stated, “Thanksgiving is a time for humility and gratitude. Our local families will be able to break bread and spend time together preparing their dinner without concern. There are many full bellies thanks to the kindness these children showed to our families in need of a kind gesture.” It's been a challenging year, but together we will rise up. Happy Thanksgiving to all of us."
