BERKELEY HEIGHTS - Matt Sommo of New Providence has been named General Manager of Taylor Rental Center, according to Paul Neuwirth, owner.
“Matt has been with us since he got out of high school – more than 19 years – and has done just about any job that needs to be done. We are very excited to have him lead our team. Matt came to us at a very young age, starting working in our party rental area and has learned the business over the years,” said Neuwirth.
“I have enjoyed working at Taylor Rental over the years and really cherish the long-lasting relationships that have developed,” Sommo said. Matt will be in charge of the day-to-day operation that features 16 fulltime employees.
Matt, a life-long Mets baseball fan, will be entering his ninth season this spring as a baseball coach at Oratory Prep in Summit. He has also coached at Raritan Valley and Drew University.
Taylor Rental recently celebrated its 50th year in business in Berkeley Heights, having opened in the old Berkeley Lanes Bowling Alley in 1969. Owned by the Neuwirth family since the beginning, the company opened a second location – Taylor Rental Party Plus - in South Plainfield in 2013.
Taylor Rental is a full-service tool and party rental store, renting tables, tents, chairs and linens as well as lawn & garden, homeowner, construction, audio visual and moving equipment. The company also has a retail party store with a balloon decorating counter, is a Penske Truck Rental dealer, and provides refills on propane BBQ tanks.
Taylor Rental was recently named as one of 10 finalists for Investor's Bank's statewide Mover's & Shakers competition for small businesses.
