‘Stand Up Against HATE!’ Comedy Event to Benefit Local Community Organizations Features Comedians Joe Carney, Rich McDonald and More

The Community is invited to join Comedians, Joe Carney and Rich McDonald as they Stand Up Against HATE for a day-long comedy event being held on Sunday, January 14, 2018 at Crossroads, 78 North Avenue in Garwood.  The day will include laughter, reflection and community healing in an effort to bring ALL people together to celebrate our differences, accept each and everyone one of us for who we are, and bridge the divide between us all.

All proceeds will be given to such amazing causes and projects such as:

  • Garden State Equality
  • Real Beauty Uncovered
  • Cranford Jaycees

The day will feature comedians of all ages, lifestyles and backgrounds, with only one feature in common: The desire to bring people together. The day will also involve speakers and spotlights on special causes, such as the Real Beauty Uncovered project.  The event will also showcase the winners of the essay contest from Garwood Middle School, reading their award winning essays: “How I would make the world a better place.”  The idea for this event is the brainchild of NJ-based comedy duo McDonald and Carney.  Rich McDonald and Joe Carney have been seen on national television such as on ABC’s Live with Regis and Kelly, MTV, TruTV, HGTV, and have been selected to audition for America’s Got Talent.  On stage they perform consistently in New York City, Atlantic City, and at resorts and cruises along the east coast.

The day continues with laughter for adults 21 and over with the TRI-STATE STAND-UP SHOWCASE from 5:00-7:00pm that will feature the best comedians from New Jersey, New York City and Philadelphia with a wide array of hilarious performers who are all dedicating their time to this amazing cause! Comedians McDONALD and CARNEY will end the day of comedy against hate with a continued adult laughter from 7:30-9:30pm. The hilarious “Two-Man” duo has performed everywhere from Tropicana in AC, Taj Mahal, Vermont, Ocean City Maryland and SoHo Playhouse in NYC. They will be bringing friends for this interactive, audience participation based event. With the catch phrase, "Nobody is safe"...you know that this is an experience more than just a show!

A $20 donation allows access to the event all day. ALL PROCEEDS shall go towards the charities and organizations listed above.  Tickets can be purchased at McDonaldandCarney.com or at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/stand-up-against-hate-comedy-festival-tickets-40843464903.
