WARREN, NJ -  New Jersey State Police posted an update Monday night stating that it "is investigating a crash that seriously injured a trooper earlier today."

At 3:23 p.m. Monday afternoon, the trooper was involved in a crash while driving a marked trooper car on Interstate 78 in Warren Township. He was entrapped and had to be extricated before being flown to University Hospital in Newark, where he is being treated for serious, but non-life-threatening leg injuries. 

The cause and circumstances of the crash remain under investigation.

Warren's Mount Bethel Fire Company posted, "As many of you may have seen in the media, today our members responded to a severe crash on Route 78 involving a NJSP Trooper. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Trooper involved, his family and the New Jersey State Police. We hope for a full and speedy recovery!!
