NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - The Summit Speech School, which teaches deaf and hard of hearing children to listen and speak for themselves, so they can succeed as part of the hearing world, will host its 27th Annual 'Spring Benefit' April 4.

The 'Spring Benefit' is actually two events in one day, with a 10 a.m. luncheon presentation and 6 p.m. dinner party, both of which will be held at Fiddler's Elbow Country Club in Bedminster.

Chaired by parent Randi Silverstein, the event's dinner will include both silent and ticket auctions, a grand raffle with cash prizes, a gourmet chocolate sale, and a wine pull. The events raise crucial funds for the Summit Speech School's programs and services.

The 'Spring Benefit' started as a flower show 27 years ago. “We are so excited to be ‘going back to our roots’ at this year’s luncheon by featuring a floral design presentation by botanist and floral designer Samantha Rothman, owner of Fairview Farm and Flowers. It’s very special to be honoring our beginnings at this year’s Benefit,” said Randi Silverstein.

After the luncheon concludes, the evening dinner party will kick-off with hors d’oeuvres, cocktails, dinner, and music. All event proceeds benefit the School’s deaf and hard of hearing kids.

Summit Speech School’s young children often enter the School at a challenging time in their lives, with some only able to say a few words, Summit Speech School is a place where children overcome longstanding obstacles and begin to blossom and grow into active participants in the speaking world.

A big part of the transformation in Summit Speech School students is due to the profound dedication of the School’s staff. This year, the Spring Benefit will honor Ellen Hansen, Summit Speech School’s beloved pediatric audiologist, and feature Summit Speech School alumna Becca Von Lange.

Founded in 1967, Summit Speech School works with children and their families, from infancy through high school, to develop skills in listening, learning, and communicating, building on the student’s own hearing ability supplemented with modern technology such as hearing aids and cochlear implants.
