Susan G. Komen North Jersey recently announced the appointment of two new officers for their Board of Trustees.
Dun & Bradstreet executive Michele Caselnova of Sparta has assumed the role of President, and Timothy Harbison of Hillsborough, Director, Large Group Sales & Account Management for Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, is the Affiliate’s new Vice President. Both are already serving on the Komen North Jersey Board—Caselnova joined in 2013 and has just completed a two-year term as Vice President; Harbison has been a Trustee since 2014 and has been a Member-at-Large.
During her tenure as a Trustee, Caselnova has assisted the Komen North Jersey staff with marketing support for its annual Pink Tie Party(she served as its Co-Chair in 2017 and 2018), as well as Race for the Cure®and other events and activities that raise awareness of breast cancer and drive fundraising in support of the Affiliate. She also helps with the strategic planning and development of key marketing and branding initiatives.

Michele Caselnova is currently Chief of Staff to the Chairman and CEO of Dun & Bradstreet and heads Corporate Communications. She was formerly Head of Communications and Brand at the company, where she led brand and reputation management, media relations and employee communications. In 2015, Michele led the modernization of the Dun & Bradstreet brand, transforming the company’s brand purpose, values and visual identity to reflect the company’s outside-in, modern and global growth strategy. She joined the company as Director of Internal Communications in September 2012, and then became its Head of Global Communications and Brand before assuming her current role. Prior to Dun & Bradstreet, she held communications leadership roles at TD Ameritrade, CIT Group, Inc. and Honeywell.
Timothy Harbison has also been a highly active member of the Komen North Jersey Board, assisting with strategic planning, fundraising, team recruitment and support for the Race for the Cure as a member of Team Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, and development of new partners and sponsorships. He and his wife Connie Harbison served (along with Caselnova) as Co-Chairs for the Affiliate’s recent 2018 Pink Tie Party.
A versatile executive and client advocate with more than 25 years’ experience in the health care arena, Harbison has extensive health plan implementation, operations and account management expertise. During his more than 20 years with Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, he has held key leadership positions in Horizon’s Market Business Unit Division. As Director of Large Group Sales and Account Management, Harbison is currently responsible for the management of all national and jumbo accounts representing over 150 national clients and more than one million members.
Harbison was motivated to take on a greater role with the Komen North Jersey Board both personally and professionally. “I had a very close friend who was diagnosed early with breast cancer,” he says. “She fought it for 11 years, and during the last few years of her life, she became very dependent on the Komen Affiliate in Philadelphia. She was very supportive of them, and that inspired me to become involved here. Komen North Jersey is a great organization. I find it incredibly rewarding to work side-by-side with them, helping people get access to care and become aware. And working for Horizon—making sure that people have insurance coverage and get the care they need—is a natural extension of that. I am fortunate, and honored, that my company encourages me to participate. I feel like I’m making a difference right here in our communities.”
The Komen North Jersey Board of Trustees governs, advises, and assists the Affiliate with strategic planning, policy making, community programs, operations and finances to ensure that the Affiliate is effectively working toward its mission to save lives and end breast cancer forever. The mission of Susan G. Komen North Jersey is to save lives by meeting the most critical needs in our communities and investing in breakthrough research to prevent and cure breast cancer. Through the annual Race for the Cure®, Pink Tie Party and other events and activities, Komen North Jersey raises funds to support local community non-profit organizations that provide screening and diagnostic services, breast health/breast cancer education, treatment support, and survivorship programs for underserved women and men in Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Morris, Passaic, Somerset, Sussex, Union and Warren counties. Since its founding in 1997, Komen North Jersey has awarded nearly $19 million in local community grants and has directed more than $7 million to national research programs in pursuit of new breast cancer screening techniques, better and more effective treatment options, and ultimately, the causes and cures to eradicate breast cancer forever.
