The following are comments from Ashlyn Shallcross regarding her past, present and future:

TAPinto: How did you get started in swimming competitively and how long have you been swimming?

Ashlyn: I started swim lessons at three years old and have been swimming ever since!  All of my sisters were swimmers so going to practice and meets was a big part of family time!

TAPinto: What do you like most about your team?

Ashlyn: The thing I like most about the GL girls swim team is how supportive everyone is of each other.  Everyone cheers on their teammates and really wants each other to reach their goals.

TAPinto: Do you have any pre-meet rituals/superstitions?
Ashlyn:I always listen to music before a race. It gets me in the right mindset to visualize my swim and focus.

TAPinto: Have you changed your training to reach the MOC level?
Ashlyn:For the past month, I've been training exclusively with the high school team. I feel that the combination of being in the lanes with the team and the hard workouts every night has made it possible for me spilt fast enough for the relay to make an MOC cut.

TAPinto: Have you met your Season Goal?
Ashlyn: My season/swim career goal was to win Sectionals and I am so happy that it happened during my senior year. I can't think of a better way to finish my high school career on the GL girls swim team.

TAPinto: What is your favorite class/professor/why?
Ashlyn: My favorite class is history. I really like learning about historical events and the people who lived during those times.

TAPinto: Future plans -- College and major?
Ashlyn: I am committed to Loyola University Maryland and I am a psychology major.

TAPinto: avorite athlete of all time?
Ashlyn; My favorite athlete of all time is New Jersey's Olympic Breaststroke Gold medalist Rebecca Soni.
