The following are comments from Declan Feely regarding his past, present and future:
TAPinto: How did you get started in swimming competitively and how long have you been swimming?
Declan: I have been swimming since I was six years old at the Berkeley Swim Club during the summers. Jack and I actually joined that same year and we were the youngest on the team. I joined the Summit Seals my freshman year.
TAPinto: What do you like most about your team?
Declan: My favorite part of the team is the people on the team, I have made a lot of lasting friends in the past four years.
TAPinto: Do you have any pre-meet rituals/superstitions?
Declan: I pray to my golden retriever before meets (I am pretty sure she loves the water).
TAPinto: Have you changed your training to reach the MOC level?
Declan: I have actually stopped practicing at my club team as much and focused on my GL practices to get to this level.
TAPinto: Have you met your Season Goal?
Declan: I had three goals this season- break a team record, qualify for MOCs and to win the sectional title. This season I have achieved all of my goals.
TAPinto: What is your favorite class/professor/why?
Declan: Mrs. Finch is my favorite teacher because she reminds me of my grandparents and she recommends good pies.
TAPinto: Future plans -- College and major?
Declan: Auburn Class of 2021, War Eagle! I will be in the Business School.
TAPinto: Favorite athlete of all time?
Declan: Derek Jeter, he was always my hero growing up as a little Yankee fan.
