BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - Imagine going to work in the great outdoors instead of in an office building. That's possible now in The Grove, the latest addition to The Connell Company's Corporate Park. All you need to do is bring your laptop. The Grove is a fully equipped work center with outdoor desks, WiFi, charging stations -- and a waterfall that cascades over stone steps.

Phase I of this open space project is complete and open to the tenants of the office park, and more importantly, open to members of the community. "We want members of our community to enjoy the space,"  said Shane Connell, Executive President of The Connell Company.

"It has work stations -- desks are meant to be places where people can sit forward to use your computer or sit back as a bench," said Connell. "It’s meant for outdoor work space, outdoor eating space, outdoor jogging space  -- if you work here or live here."

Jogging trails will be complete in November, when Phase 1 of the project Is finished.  Exercise stations will be phased in, as well as landscaping and additional urban High Line-like design elements along the jogging trail. "We want people to think of us as the Suburban High Line, here in Berkeley Heights," said Connell.

The Connells envision the community learning to view the corporate park as an actual park. "The community is important for us -- for them wanting to be here to use us as a park," said Connell. "We have outdoor foosball, ping pong -- we have game tables on the perimeter of the park with checkers and backgammon."

This multi-purpose outdoor space, which cost over $7M for The Grove and the jogging trails, will also be one of the amenities associated with Embassy Suites and Grain and Cane Restaurant, which are now slated to open in February 2018.

The Grain & Cane Gastro truck will be a fixture in The Grove in spring 2018, when they will return with their popular Lobster Rolls and specialty menu.

Future plans for Connell Corporate Park include the addition of retail and apartments on the far side of the complex. These areas will be connected by walking paths to The Grove and office buildings.

November 22, 2017

McMane Avenue has been used by the county as a u-turn for westbound I78 for years. However, with the use of GPS equipment, hundreds of trucks use this road to not perform a u-turn, but to get off one exit early to go to Weldon Materials at the bottom of Diamond Hill Rd. They start at 4:30 a.m. and must change gears due to the turn and the hill. Literally there can be one per minute. The ...
