On Sunday, Mother's Day, Linda Weber, mother of two, community leader, and tech and banking executive, announced on the MSNBC show, AM Joy, that she will seek the Democratic nomination for Congress in the Seventh Congressional District of New Jersey. Weber, a Berkeley Heights resident and Senior Vice President at IDB Bank, shattered glass ceilings in tech and finance by leading the development of one of the nation’s first customer online banking platforms. She is known in the district for her leadership raising millions for cancer patients and research as the five-time Chair of the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life in northern Union County.

"Like many residents in the Seventh Congressional District, I am deeply disturbed by the direction that our country is moving in under the leadership of President Trump and Republicans in Congress,” explained Weber. “From health care to the environment to our failing infrastructure, the values and needs of the Seventh Congressional District are not being represented by Congressman Lance, and what’s worse is that he refuses to put his district and his country over his party. The United States has a system of checks and balances for a reason. I will advance policies to rebuild our neglected transportation infrastructure, safeguard our health care, protect our air and water, and preserve a woman’s right to make her own health choices.”

Linda is very involved philanthropically and civically in the district. Her successes raising funds for cancer patients and research led to an invitation to join the Board of Directors of the Eastern Division of the American Cancer Society where she recently served as the Vice President for Board and Volunteer Development. In recognition of her service on behalf of cancer patients and survivors, the American Cancer Society honored Linda with the St. George Award, one of the society’s highest honors. She also received the organization’s Humanitarian Award.

In addition to her work with the American Cancer Society, Linda is a past president of the Berkeley Heights Parent Teacher Organization (PTO).

Linda resides in Berkeley Heights with her husband of 30 years, Mark, a music teacher in the Warren Township Public Schools. They have two sons: Theo, a senior at Northwestern University (and a four-year manager of the record-setting men’s basketball team); and Luke, a sophomore at the University of Southern California (where he plays trumpet in the renowned Spirit of Troy Marching Band). Both of her sons graduated from public schools in New Jersey.

In preparation for her run for Congress, Linda has been meeting with and listening to voters all over the district. She plans to campaign aggressively in all 75 municipalities in the district.
