Boy-band “The Flies” are five unusually-talented rising sixth graders who are not afraid to tackle Rock classics like “Stairway to Heaven” and “Sweet Home Alabama” as well as a portfolio of original compositions. Even at the young age of eleven they are veterans of public performances, having appeared at Musicfest 2011, opening for the BHEF Talent Show this year, and at the Mount Carmel Festival in 2010. In fact they made their debut appearance at the Berkeley Heights Rubber Ducky Festival when they were only in second grade!
The Flies are scheduled to perform at the Heightsfest music and reunion festival this Saturday, August 4th, at 4:40PM. They join a constellation of performers including the Hickory Tree Chorus, Joe Bury, Dave Tucker, Kat Almeida, the Barefoot Tramps, Detour, Pink-Floyd-tribute-band The Wall , and Third Rail. The boys will perform after the Rampant Lions Pipe Band exhibit their precision pipes, drums and sharp uniforms that have earned them multiple awards.
The festivities start at 4:00 PM at the Mount Carmel Field, 56 River Road in Berkeley Heights, and they end with a magnificent firework display at midnight. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit http://www.heightsfest.com/. For more on The Flies visit their Facebook.
