The Masterwork Chorus Summer Sing Season

Masterwork Chorus Launches 18th Community Summer Sing Season

The Masterwork Chorus launches its 18th season of Summer Sings on June 21, 2017.  This popular Wednesday evening series continues through July 26th at 7:30 pm in air-conditioned Rodda Hall at the Chatham United Methodist Church, 460 Main Street (Route 124). 

Each week features a prominent area conductor leading community singers, professional soloists and accompanist in favorites of the choral repertoire.  On the calendar for 2017 are the Fauré Requiem and three songs by Morten Lauridsen conducted by Ryan Brandau (June 21), the Mozart Requiem and Mozart Coronation Mass with Martin Sedek (June 28), Mendelssohn Elijah with Chris Shepard (July 12), Schubert Mass in G and Duruflé Requiem with Anne Matlack (July 19) and Brahms German Requiem and three motets by Anton Bruckner with Thomas Juneau (July 26). There is no performance on July 4.

More than 500 singers from north and central New Jersey took part in 2016, with comments ranging from "I love the Summer Sings; it’s so much fun to just get together and make music in an informal way!...”  to “Wunderbar!”   It is indeed a "… wonderful way to spend a summer evening...!"

Admission to each sing at the door is $15 including refreshments and loaner scores. Booklets containing five admission tickets are available for $65, and tickets may be shared. Student and listener admission is $7.50.  For more information on the complete program and guest conductors, visit www.masterwork.org. Starting May 25th, tickets will also be available online.

Watchung Borough Mayor and Council Approve Affordable Housing Settlement

WATCHUNG, NJ -The Watchung Borough Council voted on Thursday night  to settle its third round affordable housing obligation mandated by the state of New Jersey. Watchung Borough’s immunity from builder's remedy lawsuits  expires on June 30.
