Timothy G. Weidman, former President and CEO of the Summit Area YMCA, will be the recipient of the Shuart Reed Memorial Award at the Y’s Annual Meeting to be held on Tuesday, June 5 at Reeves-Reed Arboretum from 6:30 to 8:00 pm. The Shuart Reed Memorial Award is given to an individual who has made outstanding contributions to the betterment of the community.

Tim Weidman was the driving force behind the Summit Area YMCA's emergence as the preeminent not-for-profit organization in the Summit area.  In the mid-1980's, Tim inherited an association on the brink of collapse and, as its CEO over the next twenty years together with an engaged and dedicated Board, nursed the YMCA back to health.

He solidified the balance sheet by focusing on operational efficiencies, significantly improved facilities with an ambitious capital campaign to renovate the Summit branch, expanded the YMCA's mission outreach and geographies with the merger of The Learning Circle and the Berkeley Heights and Springfield YMCAs, and grew services offered and membership manifold.  And, he did so in his characteristic calm, deliberative and respectful manner.
