BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - Ordinances setting the minimum and maximum salaries for elected and appointed officials, as well as non-union employees and a $28 million bond ordinance were introduced at the Jan. 24 Township Council meeting.

The public hearing on the bond ordinance, which appropriates $28 million for the Municipal Complex Redevelopment Project and authorizes the issuance of municipal bonds, will be held on Feb. 7.  Matt Jessup, the township's bond counsel, gave an overview of redevelopment finance for the project at the Jan. 10 meeting of the council. The salary ordinance sets the minimum and maximum annual salaries for a variety of positions. A complete list of the salaries can be found on the township website on page 33 of the ordinance. 

In other news, the Cultural Arts Committee will celebrate the Year of the Rooster, Chinese New Year, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4, at the Berkeley Heights Library, 290 Plainfield Ave.  There will be calligraphy demonstrations, paper cutting, a cooking demonstration, Chinese Chess and arts and crafts. The celebration is suitable for all ages.
