MORRISTOWN, NJ - Raiys Grimes, 35, of West Orange, who had an arrest warrant issued for him in relation to the July 28 armed robbery of Crescent Jewelers in Chatham, turned himself in to authorities on Friday.

Morris County Superior Court Judge Ira Cohen set his bail at $200,000. Grimes and Michael Reed, 46, of Newark, have been charged with the armed robbery. A gun and some of the jewelry had been discovered at Reed's residence and he was previously arrested. Reed's bail was set at $250,000.

Grimes, currently serving probation for theft, had been identified by Joanne Prisco as one of the two suspects who entered Crescent Jewelers, put a gun to her head, duct-taped her and robbed the store. Don Prisco, owner of the store, estimated the loss of gold, jewelry, cash and other items at $700,000 in a report published by the Daily Record.

"They put a gun to my head, duct-taped me and robbed,"Joanne Prisco told TAP into Chatham on July 28. "I was the only person there. I was only open for 15 minutes when they came in."

Prisco had seen the suspects twice before identifying Grimes in a photo. The two suspects had been in Crescent Jewelers the day before the robbery.

"They were here yesterday (Wednesday) asking me questions," Prisco said on July 28. "I was nice enough to clean their jewelry for nothing. They were asking me how much does it cost to have jewelry cleaned. I told them I wouldn't charge them to clean the jewelry and they were on their way. They came back today."

A third suspect who drove the getaway vehicle, a silver or gray Jeep Cherokee, is still at large.
