WESTFIELD, NJ - On Wednesday, Feb. 24, at 7 p.m., the Westfield Memorial Library will present “An Armchair Art Tour: Eternal Spring” and on Saturday, Feb. 27, at 1:30 p.m., “Backyard Gardening" will be presented. The Library is located at 550 East Broad Street.
Eternal Spring will be presented by Michael Norris, PhD, who was an art educator at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York for many years. Through his talk, audience members will be able to wander vicariously through fabulous private gardens, from ancient to medieval. He will discuss the art and plants of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and its branch museum, the Cloisters.
Dr. Morris earned his BA in classics from the University of California at San Diego, and his MA in classics and Ph.D. in art history at the University of California at Santa Barbara. He spent twenty years at the Cloisters Museum and the Metropolitan Museum of Art and has lectured on trips all over the world.
“Basics of Backyard Gardening: Everything You Need to Know to Get Started” will be presented by Karen Camden. She will cover the whole gardening process including planning the garden, what to grow, what kind of soil is needed, and the right tools for the job. At the end of the class, there will be a question and answer session.
Ms. Camden is a frequent speaker at the library who gives computer classes and workshops on organizing, repurposing, kitchen gardens and sewing. She is the President of Camden Associates, a consulting firm that provides services in Communications and People Skills, Organizational Assessments and Clutter Control.
