Berkeley Heights has always “Cared”, l know because I have been around town for a long time.
When I was a kid, I played a lot of sports and always loved playing against BH & GLHS teams, Why? Not because we always won, we didn’t, because the BH & GLHS teams were always well coached, the kids were good athletes, the parents and community always showed up to cheer for the home team and most importantly there was always good sportsmanship, often on the way home we would say, “wish our town was more like BH.” You can tell a lot about people when winning and losing matters, sportsmanship doesn’t happen by accident, it happens when a community “Cares”!

This is one of the reasons I chose to practice in BH and now 31 years later I see “BH Still Cares.”

When this awful pandemic hit town in March, BH showed it “Cares” again. How? Well over 500 of us donated to Business Aid: BH resulting in $109,000 raised and given back to 47 local small businesses in need through emergency relief grants. Then summer came, no camps, no travel, no vacations, no free concerts in the park, no to a lot of local traditions. So what do we do? We host three sold out drive-in movie experiences with the help of 23 local business sponsorships and in partnership with BH Recreation, township officials and the Connell Company and BH showed “it Cares”!

Now fall is here and winter is coming, so what do we do? We create “BH Cares,” presented by the local business community in partnership with TAPinto as a way to say “Thanks” for helping to keep our businesses open and our community safer, till this virus goes away.

We know BH Cares! Dozens of local businesses have donated gift cards and prizes towards the “BH Cares Pledge free BH swag drawings.”

You may have seen BH Cares posters in the windows of your favorite local businesses and banners at each end of the downtown business district.

BHB&C has partnered with TAPinto to make this program easy as “just add water and stir,” simply find the pledge on TAPinto.net BH page, or scan our QR code with a smartphone, sign it and you are in! Weekly winners will receive great prizes like local restaurant gift cards, merchandise and more.

These weekly “BH Cares pledge free BH swag drawings” planned well into the fall and maybe beyond, will feature winners randomly selected from the pledge list at TAPinto as a way to say “Thanks for Caring!”

As for the BH Cares Pledge, that’s simple too, just wear a face covering when needed, socially distance when you can and wash/sanitize your hands when coming and going about town.

Will you take the Pledge? I know you care!
