Please join me in supporting Jeanne Kingsley for Berkeley Heights Town Council. For over 15 years, I’ve been an active community volunteer and so has Jeanne. She is smart, hardworking, intuitive, and humble. Jeanne wants the best for our town. She works across party lines to achieve what’s best for us, often not taking credit for the work she’s done and definitely never taking credit for other people’s work.

In the early days of the COVID shutdown, Jeanne got right to work leading the process to review our town budget and bring our property tax increase down to 0%. She quietly did what she always does: she got into the details and used her financial skills and experience to review and reduce the budget line by line. She’s intense… and as a town council member, that’s a critical quality. This isn’t about theoretical ideas, it’s about doing the hard work to get the job done to benefit our town.

Also, early in the pandemic, Jeanne contacted me about how to help our restaurants & other businesses. Jeanne and I led a team to contact all the local businesses and create local shopping & restaurant directories to get the word out which businesses were open and providing services. Jeanne and her running mate Jeff Varnerin arranged a conference call with Assemblyman Jon Bramnick and the Berkeley Heights business community, so businesses could get assistance with unemployment filings and grant applications. These are just two of many examples of Jeanne doing the work.

Jeanne’s volunteer list is long and varied. She has been chairperson of PTO committees as well as chairperson of events and committees for the BH Ed Foundation. Jeanne launched the Safe Routes to School initiative. She also teaches CCD; brings meals to seniors, and when the Rescue Squad needed members, she joined. Jeanne is an active participant and leader in our community.

I also support Jeff Varnerin, her running mate. In the short time I’ve seen Jeff in action, I am impressed with his ability to get to the core of complicated issues and offer constructive solutions and insight. He has been an active participant in Town Council and Town Budget meetings and has impressed me with his skills and work ethic. Jeff is already adding value.

Your choice for Town Council should be about choosing the most skilled candidates for the job.   This isn’t about political parties, it’s about getting things done. Here in Berkeley Heights, that choice is simple.  Without question, Jeanne Kingsley is the most qualified, hardest working candidate and the one who has contributed much more than you know. Let’s put party politics aside, and join me in voting for Jeanne Kingsley and Jeff Varnerin for Town Council in column B.
