BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - Boy Scouts from Troop 368 participated in the inaugural year of the Duct Tape Boat Races earlier this month. The boat races were held at the Berkeley Heights Community Pool.

Each Patrol in the troop was given the task to build a boat out of cardboard and duct tape. Then, they were to see which of the boats would be able to float across the pool in the fastest time.

This event helps young scouts bring out their creative genius by making a design, testing it for buoyancy, and ultimately finding out which boat is the fastest.

Boy Scouts is a great way to build leadership skill character. Another important concept the organization incorporates is creativity in activities such as the boat races.

Boy Scouts builds these characteristics in young men to reach their full potential. Through the teenage years, boys become men by the choices they make. By making Boy Scouts a part of a young man’s life can only benefit him and prepare him for college and beyond.
