BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - May 19 to 25 is National EMS Week – a time to celebrate Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) and the important work they work do for our nation’s communities. The Berkeley Heights Volunteer Rescue Squad (BHVRS) can think of no better way to celebrate EMS Week than by teaching YOU, our community, life-saving skills. Join us for 1 hour CPR/AED classes on Sunday, May 19 at 3:30 pm or Wednesday, May 22 at 7:00 pm
Classes are free and will be held at the Rescue Squad (378 Snyder Ave). Participants (14 years and older) will learn the basics of hands-only CPR, use of the AED defibrillator, and how to assist choking victims (adults, adolescents and infants).
Learning CPR is easier than most people might expect. Effective, early bystander intervention through CPR for those having a cardiac event increases lives saved.
So take just an hour out of your busy schedule to give yourself the confidence to step out of your comfort zone and help someone – possibly a loved one – survive a sudden cardiac arrest.
To sign-up or for more information email: CPR@BHVRS.org or phone: 908-464-0013.
Also on May 19 come support our Relay for Life Team as we host our annual Plant and Flower/ Baked Goods Sale, 11am to 4pm. Monies will be donated to Relay for Life/American Cancer Society. Leah’s Lemonade Stand will be there too!
Last, but not least, on Tuesday night, May 21, in addition to our weekly Open House, we’ll be having a special Story Time Night. Kids of all ages are invited to hear a story, tour the ambulances and enjoy a snack. Wear your PJs! Please register at PJS@BHVRS.org or call 908-464-0013.
