BH Diversity Council at the YMCA Pride Celebration on Friday, June 14

The Berkeley Heights Diversity Council (BHDC) invites you to join them at two upcoming events - The 2nd Annual Summit Area YMCA Pride Celebration this Friday, June 14 from 4-7 p.m. at the Park at Lower Columbia Middle School, and at the first “Coffee with a Cop” they are co-hosting with the Berkeley Heights Police Department (BHPD) on Saturday, June 22, from 8:30 - 10:00 a.m. at the Berkeley Heights YMCA.

Please stop by the Berkeley Heights Diversity Council’s table on Friday at the Summit Area YMCA’s Pride Celebration, where we will have sidewalk chalk for the kids and smiles to welcome neighbors and friends.  You can also try your chance at two fun give-aways!  Try to win a pair of Rainbow checkered Vans slip-on and also enter your name for a free drawing for a set of Young Adult novels.  All proceeds from the raffle will be donated to the Trevor Project (https://www.thetrevorproject.org) #celebratepride #stonewall50

Please join the BHDC and the BHPD on Saturday, June 22nd from 8:30 - 10:00 a.m. for the first “Coffee with a Cop”  at the Berkeley Heights YMCA.  Coffee with a Cop brings police officers and the community members they serve together - over coffee - to discuss issues and learn more about each other.  It’s agenda free - no speeches or specific topics.  Just informal conversations about what matters to community residents.

“The Diversity Council is excited to co-sponsor the first “Coffee with a Cop” in Berkeley Heights.” said BH Diversity Council Leadership Team member Damian Facey. “We continue to look for new ways to create comfortable spaces to bring our community together.  This is a great opportunity for community members of all ages to get to know their local police officers.”  Free donuts and coffee (maybe iced if it’s hot outside!) are always a great idea, so the BHDC hopes you will stop by and join us for a casual, informal coffee and chat.

For more information about the national “Coffee with a Cop” program, please check out the website, https://coffeewithacop.com/.   If you have questions about the Berkeley Heights Diversity Council or about either of these two events, please email the Council Leadership team at BHDiversity@gmail.com

You saw the stampede in the theater district in New York City when a motorcycle backfired. And the evacuation of a Wal-Mart in Union because of a false report.

We may have freedoms, but ...
